Arrival in Japan

3rd September 2016

Course of study

I graduated from Tohoku University’s Graduate School of Economics and Management with a Master’s degree in Economics. My research focus was on the impact of basis risk on the small-scale farmers’ decisions to demand weather index-based crop insurance in Kenya.

Experience in Japan

Japan has become my second home! My experience here has been an amazing one; the different culture, food and the people, not to mention the different seasons that come with the celebrations. All these summed up my unique experience here. I have learned a lot throughout my time here.

AFAM Experience

Thanks to AFAM family and its activities, I learned important lessons which I am sure will be of significant importance as I embark on rebuilding my career I.e power of a community and friendship across cultures. Through the close friendships developed within AFAM, I learned the value of celebrating and supporting all our differences. Indeed, diversity strength is all we need to make the world a better place. My role as the financial secretary also gave me insights into the work culture in Japan.

Future Plans / Dreams/Goals

I just started working for a Japanese International Non-profit Organization that provides educational support to orphaned students worldwide. I hope to be among the people strengthening the relations between our Continent and Japan not only through my organization’s Africa Initiatives but also through my own initiatives which are aimed at molding Africa’s future leaders.
