Dear Members, Friends, and Supporters of AFAM,
As we step into 2025 with renewed hope and optimism, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support, dedication, and collaboration throughout 2024.
Reflecting on the past year, I am proud to share some of AFAM’s remarkable accomplishments that highlight our collective efforts to promote African culture and foster meaningful connections within our communities:
- AfriMag’s Growth
In 2024, we successfully released the 3rd and 4th editions of AfriMag, our flagship magazine that continues to shine a spotlight on Africa’s rich and diverse cultures. These editions have not only reached wider audiences but have also strengthened AFAM’s role as a bridge for cultural exchange in Miyagi Prefecture and beyond. - Recognition of Leadership
I am deeply humbled to have received an award this year, which stands as a testament to the collective hard work, dedication, and passion of the entire AFAM community. This recognition is a shared achievement, and I thank you all for making it possible. - International Cultural Exchange with Ghana
AFAM, in collaboration with Rifu Town, is set to embark on an exciting initiative to organize cultural exchanges with Ghana, particularly with SWESCO, as part of the 2025 Osaka Expo International Exchange Program. Beginning with a visit to Ghana in February 2025, this program aims to foster mutual understanding and strengthen ties between Japan and Ghana. These efforts mark the start of a journey to build lasting cultural bridges, inspiring meaningful connections between local communities and global heritage. - Support for Sudan
In partnership with the Lions Club, we successfully sent vision glasses to Sudan, extending a hand of support and embodying the spirit of Ubuntu—our shared humanity. - Expansion of AFAM
As AFAM grows, I warmly invite more Africans residing in Miyagi Prefecture and the Tohoku Region to join us. Together, we can amplify the visibility of Africa and enrich our contributions to this vibrant community. - Resuming Seminars and Expositions
With the improved pandemic situation, we are excited to resume our seminars and cultural expositions in 2025. These events will continue to showcase African values and celebrate our shared cultural heritage with local communities.
As we look forward to the year ahead, let us remain steadfast in our mission to foster mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration between Africa and Japan. AFAM’s journey is fueled by the spirit of unity and the strength of our shared vision. Together, we will continue to make meaningful impacts and inspire brighter futures.
Wishing you all a prosperous and fulfilling New Year!
With warm regards,
Isaac Yaw Asiedu
