"Building Cultures, Building Futures"

Expo International Exchange Program

This initiative is part of the Expo International Exchange Program, which is being implemented by the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat from fiscal year 2024 to 2025. The program, in conjunction with the upcoming Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, aims to foster continuous international exchange between local residents and participants from Expo countries. As one of the participating countries, Ghana plays a crucial role in this effort. The program’s objectives are to promote mutual understanding between Japan and participating nations, address regional issues, and invigorate cultural exchanges through initiatives such as the collaboration between Rifu Town and the African Association of Miyagi (AFAM). Rifu Town is working closely with AFAM to connect Ghanaian institutions and citizens with local communities in Japan. Through this collaboration, we seek to build lasting cultural bridges and deepen our shared understanding of global heritage.

About the Exchange Program

The Rifu-Ghana Cultural Exchange Program is a collaborative effort to strengthen ties between Japan and Ghana through education and cultural engagement. From February 15 to 22, 2025, an eight-member delegation—comprising six representatives from Rifu Town and two from AFAM—will travel to Ghana for the cultural exchange program. The program includes two main components:

  1. Delegation Visit to SWESCO:
    • Eight Rifu delegates, including educators, local government officials, and community leaders, will visit SWESCO for an in-person cultural exchange.
    • Activities will include discussions with school authorities, cultural performances, and interactive sessions to share traditions and educational practices.
  2. Online Student Exchange:
    • Twelve students from Rifu Junior High School and twenty-four students from SWESCO will participate in a virtual cultural exchange.

These sessions will provide a platform for students to share their cultures, traditions, and perspectives, fostering a spirit of global friendship.
