Child Friendly School

Miyagi Co-op donates to the "Child Friendly School” Initiative of African Association of Miyagi (AFAM).

Since 2021, AFAM has been promoting the AFAM Africa Education Initiative (AAEI), which aims to create an environment where all African children can have access to quality education. To realize this goal, AFAM supports the Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) Initiative launched by UNICEF.

This initiative is positioned as a means for AFAM to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 4: Quality Education.
Last year, AFAM received a request from Swedru Secondary School (SWESCO) in the Republic of Ghana for assistance in renovating some of its poor facilities. Upon receiving this request, AFAM called for donation from Miyagi Co-op.

On March 23, a donation ceremony was held at the Miyagi Co-op head office, where Miyagi Co-op Managing Director/CEO Mr. Kenji Ohkoshi presented Dr. Isaac Asiedu, President of AFAM with 150,000 yen to support the “Child-Friendly School” initiative at SWESCO.
Dr. Asiedu expressed his gratitude for the donation, saying, “Thank you for contributing to AFAM’s Child-Friendly School (CFS) Initiative and for your donation to SWESCO”. Mr. Ohkoshi added, “We hope that the donation will be put to good use as part of the renovation costs to improve the learning environment at SWESCO”.
